Liberal Party of Canada - If You Can't Take the Heat...

Liberal MPs are reviewing legal options in a response to what they call slanderous comments by Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre. In a recent interview, Poilievre quite correctly nailed the stance of the Liberals against two important anti-terror provision laws as "extremist." Good for Pierre, I'm glad to see the government calling out these partisan hardliners for what they are:

Tory MP Pierre Poilievre said that "hard left" and "extremist" elements within the Liberal party had pushed leader Stéphane Dion to oppose the provisions up for the vote tonight.

"We know that a lot of extremist groups and people with some very hard left-wing views have advocated for a long time that these provisions should be scrapped. Now a lot of those people supported Stéphane Dion in the leadership," Poilievre told a CFRA radio interviewer.

"A lot of them are in Stéphane Dion's caucus."*

The display of hypocrisy by the Liberals on this is absolutely outrageous. Liberal strategy over the past decade has been to paint the Conservative Party and its predecessors as "extreme" and "hard-right," and they did it non-stop. The Tories have referred to the Liberals as "extremist" and "hard-left" once, and this is how they react?

I can think of no better description for the opposition than "extremist" and "hard-left." My advice for them is this: get used to it. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the fire.

And more importantly, stop whining like a bunch of babies.
