A great man once said, "Politics is inherently stupid." That great man was me.

Cuban Punk Rocker to Stand Trial for "Social Dangerousness"

I remember having a conversation with a good friend of mine once who compared American democracy with Cuban totalitarianism, saying as well that the Cubans didn't mind being under the communist yoke. Believe me, Gorki Aguila minds being put on trial for saying what he believes.

I'll tell you one thing, you won't see noFX on trial for disliking the current US administration. And therein is the difference between American freedom and Cuban communism.

Jon Stewart on News Media

...and it's every bit as annoying as you'd expect. To paraphrase Mr. Stewart, he believes that the problem with today's news media is twofold:

  1. They don't dig through spin to get to the truth.
  2. Fox News - but in Jon's opinion, at least they have 'an agenda' and offer something fresh.

Thing is, the spin Jon wants media organizations to cut through is spin from the right - spin from the left is just fine for him. In fact, he wants more left-wing spin.

Stewart reminds me of a kid sitting in the dirt on a playground, bawling his eyes out because he has to share the monkey bars with the other kids instead of having them to himself. He's wrong - the problem with news media today isn't that there are opposing viewpoints to the standard left-wing fare that gets pushed at MSNBC. That's what's right with news media today. Jon simply can't and won't accept that the days of unlimited liberal news media spin are over, and that the left actually has to defend their ideas now.

He asks the journalists he's meeting with "why do I take this more seriously than you?" I can tell him why: his profession doesn't require him to at least try to remain unbiased. He's a comedian - one who needs to stop whining about how he can't have things his own way. Their agenda is to present the news as it is, Jon's agenda is to inject more liberal spin into it.

He's a hypocrite. I could say more, but I think it's simply best to paraphrase Stewart's low-brow words to Tucker Carlson on CNN's Crossfireshow:

Jon: you're a dick.

Obama Criticizes McCain Re: Canada

Obama has recently criticized McCain for supposedly not knowing how many Canadian provinces there are. May I remind Obama that his knowledge of his own country's number of states is weak in and of itself (57 states?!!).

Alexandre Trudeau: Leave Afghanistan

This is simply breathtaking:

Canada's "aggressive" war in Afghanistan is all about "teaching lessons with weapons" and will leave nothing behind "except the blood we've lost there," the journalist son of the late prime minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau said yesterday.

"Our aggressive military activities in Afghanistan are foolish and wrong," said Alexandre (Sacha) Trudeau, 34.

"The Pashtun (people) have extremely different values than ours, values we may not agree with in any case, but it's not our business to try and teach them lessons with weapons," Trudeau told The Gazette.

"Because, in fact, they'll be the ones teaching us lessons.

"We're going to have to leave the place or there'll be nothing left of us or of whatever we've done, except the blood we've lost there after we leave. So it's better we leave now."

This message is virtually identical to Taliban propaganda and Alexandre Trudeau should apologize to every single member of the Canadian Forces, men and women who possess courage and strength that "pipsqueak" Trudeau cannot even fathom.

Perhaps we should have drafted Fidel Castro to fight for us, I hear he has a "herculean physique."

Why Georgia?

Amidst the shocking Russian invasion of Georgia, with it's crucial oil pipelines, I'm waiting for even one leftist to start screaming about Russian Imperialism and "no blood for oil!"

The silence is deafening.
